My friend Jocelyn's sister died on christmas eve that just passed, she was 21 years old, and it was just so heartbreaking.....she had been diagnosed one year previous with brain cancer. While Katie was in the hospital another little girl from St Thomas(where Joc and Katie live) was diagnosed with cancer. The little girls name is Shelby Gagne, she just turned three last weekend. Her parents have a "blog" on www.caringbridge.org....type in shelbygagne........anyway she went in for some tests on Monday and today they got news that the tumours on Shelby's lungs have not decreased, in fact they have gotten bigger and there are more of them! There is nothing more they can do!!! I can not even imagine!!! Next week they are heading to Florida to make memories with their daughters before Shelby dies!! She has an older sister Emiligh, she is in SK and theyjust pulled her out of school for the rest of this term so she can spend time with her sister. Through Shelby's site I learned of another young man, his name is Kadin Gazzaway, he is four and also has cancer. I have been reading both their sites everyday now for quite some time. Kadin also got some horrible news this week that his lungs are so damaged from treatments that they don't know that he will recover. How do these parents get through each day?? I don't know these families personally, but when I read what Kadin's parents wrote the other day I cried.......I don't understand. Yes, I believe in god, but this is the kind of thing that makes me question him, why must innocent little children endure this pain?
I am so thankful for my healthy children, I adore them and could not ever imagine anything happening to them. Please keep both Shelby and Kadin in your thoughts and prayers......I hate cancer!!!! It scares me!!! :(
