So right now I should be packing everything up for our camping get away. We are only going for a couple of nights and the kids (and Shane) are so excited, me, not so much. Our kids are a perfect age for camping, they go off and explore and heck they even packed their own bags with clothes etc for the trip. I hate the bugs, last year Jackson got 74 mosquito bites....yes we counted them all....we are going to a different campground this year. We have camped at Wildwood before and the kids loved it. There is a playground, they have a pool and they have a creek and the kids spent hours there catching tadpoles. I am not found of raccoons, or the fact that everything smells like campfire and did I mention the bugs. I have packed a couple of books and hit the liquor store in hopes that a little (or a lot) of alcohol will help me sleep better.....or at least prevent me from hearing "nature" roaming around our tent.
Yes I could just stay home and let Shane have a few days away with the kids but truthfully I love watching Ry and Jax help Shane set up the tent. I love how excited they get when Shane starts getting the campfire going. I love watching Jaden scream like the girl that she is when there are bugs around (so you can imagine that there is a lot of screaming going on..lol) Memories......that is why I am sucking it up and sleeping outside for a couple of nights. Memories of snuggles around the campfire and giggling kids in tents trying to pretend that they are going to sleep. Memories of my little ones helping their dad set up the tent, and evenings where they run around trying to catch fireflies.
Ok off to join in the chaos that is going on upstairs.....let the fun (and memories ;) begin.
