Jaden has an open group number this year called Bombay Dreams... They had a get together on the weekend to try and figure out costumes and accessories.

So Bren and Milan were down last week to give Ry his birthday gift....an electric guitar. with an amp. oh and the guitar has a "wammy" bar...that my kids LOVE to use. with the amp.

Ry loves his guitar.. He is practising all the time. Milan taught him a little bit of Free Fallin' and I hope he teaches him some more because I am getting tired of hearing the same notes over and over and over...you get the idea.

Seriously..

It snowed again last night! I am done. Done with this stupid white stuff. Yes I know we live in Canada and technically it is not Spring yet, but enough already. Rylan decided at 8pm last night that he needed his hair cut...Shane took him and he almost got his "Summer" haircut, but the hairdresser told him that he should wait?? so he got a trim....he can still flick his head to swing his bangs (think Justin Bieber)....I swear he is going to throw his neck out..it is just a matter of time.

Jaden had an Orthodontist appointment yesterday, still waiting for three teeth to fall out, last time he said they were "just" hanging on, then at the dentist last week she said they could fall out any second. guess what people they are still there. So the orthodontist told her yesterday that if they are not out by the end of the month she will have to have them taken out...she has been poking at them to try and speed up the process. SO when these teeth are out, we wait three months and then go back to him so he can do xrays, impressions etc (for the bargain price of $300 for this initial step)and it looks as though she will have braces around summer time, remember when she called them "bracelets"...she always wanted bracelets for her teeth. After her appointment she did inform me that she was relieved to see that they had the colours that she wants for her braces (lime green and purple!)....oh joy.

Spring Fever..

Jackson has had enough of Winter....the couple of nice weather days last week gave him a taste of what is to come and he wants it to be Spring, now. Yesterday he begged me to move the car out of the driveway so he could play basketball. I asked him how he was going to get a basketball, he insisted that he could get to the shed and retreive one. He bundled up with his Winter coat, hat and one mitten (could only find one). I checked on him after a couple of minutes to see if his venture to the shed was successful...nope he had discovered that there was a basketball buried under a pile of snow and ice right beside the bbq. When I saw him he was trying to dig it out with a hammer....yep a hammer.

Finally he got basketball and proceeded to the driveway with his icy basketball....seriously there was ice on it and he was trying to bounce the thing, it was flat and frozen.

At first he decided to use it as a soccer ball, but then convinced Shane to pump it up for him and he was a happy boy. He played out there for about a half hour and finally decided that he indeed was freezing and came in with his big rosy frozen cheeks.

Wishing I could slow down time......

I feel as though I have spent so much time wishing for the next stage...when they were newborns I wanted them to walk and talk, then I was waiting for them to feed themselves, then potty training, getting themselves dressed. Now, now I want time to slow down a little. Yesterday I watched Rylan walk from the house with his friend. His friend was out walking his dog and stopped by to see if Ry could go with him and then it ended up that he went over to his friends house to do homework and have dinner with them. I don't know why but it hit me when I was watching him from the window yesterday, watching him interact with his friend while walking down the sidewalk, seeing him laugh and chat away with his buddy.....I am having to let "go" a little and it is not as easy as I thought it would be.

This week I took my daughter for her first filling ....she had to get the dreaded needle at the dentist and she came out smiling, then later in the week I took her to get her eyebrows waxed (she came to me and said she wanted to have it done)....and the same child that just a few short years ago had to be held down by three people in the back room of the jewelry store to have her other ear pierced...she layed there and while she did flinch I did not have to sit on her lol I don't know when this transition happened but it is here and it feels weird. Tomorrow for the first time Jaden is probably going to go to the mall with some friends and then to a movie and while I am happy for her it still feels bittersweet. It seems as though all of a sudden life is moving so quickly, days are flying by and I want time to slow down, or I would like to freeze time for a little while. I am aware that this is part of the plan, they need to have their independance.....but now that it is slowly happening it is not at all how I thought I would feel. I have learned that every stage is like a new chapter, if I could go back I would enjoy each of those stages more, even the countless sleepless nights...the words *this too shall pass* is so true.
The other night Jackson crept into our room when we went to bed and asked if he could sleep with us for a little while, Shane was ready to carry him back into his own bed..lol..but I pulled back the comforter and told him to climb in, he snuggled into me and I loved every second of it. His brother and sister have shown me how quickly things change and I was not going to give up an opportunity for snuggle time with my baby boy.

I know we have many "stages" left in this parenting journey, I just want to have this to remind myself to stop and enjoy the present, cherish the moments as they come and admire the wonderful people they are becoming.
